“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” – Dale Carnegie  What Mr. Carnegie is saying is to never ever give up.

Some of the best things about football have absolutely nothing to do with a scoreboard.  The score at the end of a game does not define you no, what defines us is the effort we put forth during that game, that week, or that offseason.  What defines us is building trust in a teammate so that they know that we will do your part to help them and the team be successful. They know without any uncertainty that we will be there to support them during adversity, and celebrate with them in times of triumph.

What defines us is that feeling of accomplishment when a difficult task is completed, while others talk or squawk about the well-trodden road filled with Instagram, Snapchat, video games, and hours wasted watching YouTube.   We were out in triple digit heat pushing large, rusted, bulky metal objects; grunting and groaning with your teammate while sweat dropped off of you like water dripping from a leaky shower stall.

We have done what is arduous so that we can achieve what is great.  We know what it is like to have your face smashed into the ground.  We know what it is like to hear the jeers from classmates who talk smack about you and your football family while they can’t even get to class on time and have nothing onto which they have built a foundation for future success.

When times are darkest we can hold fast to the inner strength that we have built up doing all these thankless, unnoticed tasks.  We know that the adversity that we face right now is an opportunity to become a better version of you.  Just remember, never forget we have come too far and sacrificed too much to ever quit.

Dear Pack,

I want to let you all know before our 2018 Football Season kick's off just how very proud that I am of each and every single one of you. I am honored to be your coach. You have all made tremendous sacrifices to make this team. Through all of the challenges and adversity that you have faced and overcome throughout this Off-Season, now it is your time to shine, this is your moment. As you walk out of that tunnell tomorrow night, do me a favor and embrace this moment for it is brief and then it is gone. Play every down as though it is your last for there will come a time when you'll have to say goodbye. Football Season is upon us gentlemen, you are prepared, you are confident, you are Ready. I will leave you with one last thing...

It's not about how you start, it's about how you ___________!
